Ну я б не сказал, что с каждым годом всё хуже и хуже было. Но КРКР это что-то вообще дико выбивающееся из общего ряда. Каких-нибудь някающих (и прочая) косплейщиц они напоминают.

Aoi: brave and enthusiastic like a lion, she loves freedom. She is part of a rock band as vocalist so she roars like a lion.
Yukari: elegant, dignified with an air of nobility; she is a bit selfish and above-everyone else like a cat.
Akira: boyish and sporty, strong and gentle and with an strong sense of justice like a dog.
According to the producer comments, the main theme of the work is basically "everyone is different and that's fine". They want to show how there is no perfect lovely heroine and that everyone it doesn't matter if you're girly or boyish or cool or cute or tall or small or young or cute.

The main antagonists are EVIL FAIRIES (?!) and they say that their true identity is a big mystery that will be slowly revealed in the show and that there will be a lot of hints so that people can guess.
Ichika fails at many things but is really good at cake decoration, has good intuition and can come up with many different ideas about animal sweets.
Himari is usually timid but once she starts talking about sweets there's no stopping her. Everyone relies on her as the sweets doctor who knows everything about sweets.
When it comes to sweets making, Aoi helps out Ichika with any part that requires physical strength.
Yukari can do anything and everything easily so she is bored of everything, though, after meeting the eccentric Ichika, her days start becoming more interesting.
Akira is good at taking care of people. She often gives chocolate to her sick little sister whom she is living apart from.
