Hi, /tran/. In this thread i trying to improve my english skills from shitty to good. Time to time i will post a short story or just post about something and you may correct my mistakes. All it's need for language practice and experiencing for using english grammar rules. Let's go. I started to read "Essential Grammar in Use" by Raymond Murphy and this online course http://www.native-english.ru/grammar , however had readed only two chapters.

This has no meaning. I don't even get what you are trying to say. All of this is needed to get language practice and experience in using english grammar rules? All that is needed for language practice and experience is using english grammar rules?

I wanted to said 'Это нужно для языковой практики опыта использования правил английской грамматики'.

I could read technical literature without russian translation. I could watch Discovery channel or Dexter in English. But I cannot into writing and speaking! Too sad, i think.

Even in Russian it sounds kind of weird I'd say. "This is needed in order to practice the use of english grammar rules" should be fine.
>>20877
And I can only read and(presumably) write, but am utterly unable to follow a conversation(to say nothing of my accent). But well, it's not like I'll be running in many occasions to speak with people anyway lol.

Nothing can help you but speaking/writing. Only practice helps to polish your skills.
Not that my ability to speak/write is at any decent level, but still I've found it improving over the course of last year, when I was forced to speak at random topics almost daily (cheers to my teacher).
>>20879
And what prevents you from following the conversation? Do you have trouble understanding speakers, or coming up with decent answer (explaining yourself)?

No. I completely know nothing about verb tenses.

Well some rules related to tenses are tricky indeed but come one conjugation? There is but one simple rule, add an "s" at the end of verbs in 3rd person singular, present tense; add nothing in all other occasions. Sure you can remember that.

Watch movies with subs. No, really, it helps a lot. Then watch without subs, paying a close attention to what and how actors speak.
I recommend an old British TV-series to start: "Mind your language". It was broadcasted in 70's if I'm not mistaken, and the pronunciation of the teacher there is godlike. We were using it last year to get used to British pronunciation, as opposed to modern American. Couldn't understand a bit of what he was saying, lol, but grew accustomed eventually. Give it a try someday.

I don't abandoned my undertaking. Just I passed a few days without computer. Now I tell you how I spent New Year's day. I don't give a fuck about celebrating, so I readed books and created a nitrogen triiodide. It is very unstable substance. It could explode, even from the wind or weak blow!
If you wants to create this funny stuff, you need a couple of alcoholic solution of iodine and ammonia. First put the iodine into wide cup, then add to it ammonia. When the precipitate goes down filter it with piece of paper, then dry it. So you get a very unstable exploding powder. It's very dangerous! I hit a cup with it on table and it explode! Then I get temporary deafness and pain in ears in whole evening. Be careful.
I'm a little dissapointed in the online course of Englist and think Myrphy's book is better.

Russian text for except misunderstanding.

> I don't abandoned my undertaking.

I haven't abandoned my undertaking.

> without computer

without computers
лучше: away from computers

> Now I tell you

Now I'm going to tell you
В любом случае, это фраза звучит странно. Обычно говорят "let me tell you", но это выражение имеет негативный оттенок (например: let me tell you this, son, get your ass out of my land or you'll be sorry). Поэтому лучше заменить на предложение без tell you, например:
Now on what I did on New Year's day.

> I don't give a fuck

Это вульгарное выражение не совпадает с нейтральным русским "меня не интересует." Английский вариант в русском звучит как "Ну, на х*й ваши празднования." Если хочется ближе к нейтральному, но всё-еще разговорный вариант:
I don't give a hoot

> created a nitrogen triiodide

Артикль "a" значит один. Трийодид азота — неисчисляемое существительное.
creating nitrogen triiodide
с артиклем: creating a nitrogen triiodide solution

> a couple of alchoholic solution of iodine and ammonia.

Confusing! Даже русский вариант непонятен. Надо раствор йода и аммиака в ввиде смеси или они должны быть отдельно? В любом случае, a couple of solutionS. Из контекста можно предположить, что растворы должны быть отдельно, тогда:
alchoholic solutions of iodine and ammonia.
или: iodine and ammonia alchoholic solutions.

> add to it ammonia.

Почему the iodine и просто ammonia?
add the ammonia to it.

> When the precipitate goes down filter it with piece of paper

When the precipitate falls down, filter it out with a piece of paper

> So you get

Now you have

> I hit a cup with it

Confusing! Можно подумать, что ты ударил чашку ЭТИМ порошком. Судя по русскому варианту (это было не на новый год, так?), лучше будет:
I've hit a cup filled with it

> Then I

Тогда ≠ Then. Если это было не на новый год:
That time I

> evening

Редко используемое слово. Обычно говорят night, даже когда речь идет о вечере.

> I'm a little dissapointed

I'm {rather/somewhat/kind of/sort of} dissapointed

Ычан, почему гугуру турансурейту переводит "I'm very sorry that I wasted your time so long" как "Мне очень жаль, что я потратил свое время так долго"?! Как мне правильно сконструировать эту фразу на английском?

>почему гугуру турансурейту переводит...

Потому что гугл-транслейт - нельзя использовать для проверки правильного построения фразы. Лучше искать похожее по структуре предложение в базе параллельных текстов.

>"I'm very sorry that I wasted your time so long"

"I'm very sorry that I've wasted your time, so long."
Вот так будет грамматически верно, не совсем то, что ты хочешь сказать, лол.

>>21377
Я бы сказал I'm sorry I've wasted so much of your time.
А вообще выражение типа "тратил ваше время так долго" будет выглядеть "have been wasting your time for so long".

So this morning I was licking my mom's pussy. It was very tasty to say the least! Then I got to the shower and touched my balls really hard for a fourty minutes! I felt pain, but I really enjoyed it. Sometimes I squeeze them so hard I pass out! Can we all just understand that being gay is okay? I play online video games, and I like to tell people about my previous gay experiences with muslims. They are usually really confused, I guess the matter is in my bad english!

Here is my little story with bunch of rude mistakes.

Today i got up at 6 o'clock. I decided to advance my English while i was taking a shower (it is silly place for considering your upcoming day, isn't it?). After water procedures i had a miserable breakfast. When i was eating i heard a phonecall. It was someone whom i haven't remember now.

So, in the afternoon (at 13 o'clock or so) i discovered an interesting way to practice my English. I signed up at unremarkable MMORPG and started to find a player who could speak with me. I was going to practice speaking with help of foreign(native) speaker. During my discovering i found a lot of Spanish players which language i completely don't understand. I had never seen Spanish
speech before that moment.

Okay, my story have already lasted forever i guess. So, i found English speaker and we were spent approximately one hour in conversations about videogames and other-like stuff.

Oh, i have marked all words i couldn't remember in bold. Let's hope here are will not be misunderstandings.
